Article
Article – In the article there is often a combination of text that you write yourself and media that you link or upload. The material is embedded to form an article with mixed media. In the article your students only take part of the information, there is nothing here to work with or to submit.
Glossary
Glossary – A glossary is used to highlight important terms and their definitions. Through the glossary node you can make sure your students understand the words specific for the subject in each learning loop. You can also use this node to translate words and for synonyms or opposites. To test what you have learned, this node can be followed by a terminology quiz.
Task
Task – In the node called task you create an individual task. When your student submits an answer here, only you will see it. Your students can’t see each other’s answers. This is why this node is a good idea when you hand out an extensive task where you want to be able to give individual feedback to your students. Your students can, as always, submit their answer using different media. The same goes for you as a teacher.
Logbook
Logbook – The logbook is created mainly to have the opportunity to observe a learning process during a more extensive work area. In the logbook students can describe their work, their reflections and their decisions clearly and in many steps. Each time your student has submitted something you will see it and can give relevant feedback during the learning process.
Questions and answers
Questions and answers – If you have several questions you want answered, shortly or more extensively, it is easy for your students to respond in the Questions and answers node. Every question is numbered and you can easily see and give feedback to every submitted answer.
Group assignment
Group assignment – In a group assignment, the students in each group have a shared space to write on. They can collect material to the assignment, continue writing on each other’s texts or make a summary of a discussion they have had. You need to divide your students into groups before they can start working in the node. Only one student at a time can click to answer. Try it together and you will see how it works.
Notice board
Notice board – In the Notice board node each student gets their own response field, where they can contribute their thoughts on a question, submit an explanatory film concerning a specific topic or take part in the planning of the next hub in the learning loop. The Notice board gives you the opportunity to invite your students to influence the content of their education. Your students can also comment on each other’s posts and give feedback on posts or solve tasks they have created for each other. All your students will be heard equally in the Notice board node.
Quiz
Quiz – In the quiz you create multiple choice questions. A quiz can be used as a formative check off, as repetition or as a knowledge check before starting a new work area. It is up to you to decide whether your students are allowed to do the quiz once or several times.
Terminology quiz
Terminology quiz – If you made a glossary you can import it to the Terminology quiz and it will automatically turn into a quiz. You can also use the node to pair other things, like math questions and their answers or words and their translation.
Evaluation
Evaluation – In the evaluation node your students can reflect on their learning in the learning loop by answering your questions about their work. The abilities you have connected to the learning loop will also be visible here. The purpose here is for your students to see their own learning process more clearly. You, in your turn, can give feedback on your students’ answers and then you are as close to a summative assessment as we are ever going to get in Loops.
